Crowns

Crowns

Dental crowns not only improve the appearance of your smile, but they can also protect cracked or chipped teeth. They provide a more natural-looking alternative to white fillings and can be used to cover damage caused by tooth decay or other dental problems.

Benefits of Crowns

why you May need a dental crown

After your dentist has assessed your tooth and gums, they will also take dental x-rays to ascertain the severity of the damage. Be sure to tell your dentist about any medications, vitamins or supplements you are taking. Once all information is gathered, treatment and sedation options will be discussed with you in detail.

You have heavily filled or chipped teeth

You can either restore your teeth with a white filling or have a crown fitted, but a crown is usually the better option. Aesthetically, it looks great as it's extremely well-polished and colour-matched. Furthermore, it's stronger and more durable than a filling. Plus, high-end porcelain is resistant to staining, so your smile will stay bright for years to come, unlike fillings which often stain over time. Functionally speaking, the crown also protects the tooth from cracking - thus extending its lifespan significantly.

You want to improve the appearance of your teeth

Cosmetic crowns can be used to improve many aspects of your teeth, such as alignment, colour, shape and size. Crowns often look very naturalistic, when done by a professional, due to how well they can mimic real teeth. The type of crowns we use are generally metal-free ceramic crowns, which look similar to a tooth in both colour and shape. These materials often have properties similar to real teeth, such as weight and texture, resulting in a more seamless appearance.

Your teeth need some additional protection

If your teeth are heavily filled, it can often leave thin bits of tooth around the edges. These thin areas are likely to fracture at some stage, if left alone. If you have a large fracture, it could result in you requiring a tooth extraction. To help prevent this from happening, crowns can be placed to protect the weak parts of the tooth. This will increase longevity and allow you to keep your natural teeth for as long as possible.
We also offer same-day crowns for your convenience and busy lifestyle!

Totally recommend Dorking Dental Practice in Dene Street. I chipped a tooth and was in a lot of pain as it was sharp. I couldn't get an appointment with my own practice and a colleague recommended DDC so I walked in praying they had space but not too hopeful. Another patient was running late so Dr Iqbal treated me in her lunch hour. Staff couldn't have been nicer and the temporary fix is seriously good and very smooth. Considering moving across to here. Thank you Dr Iqbal and Mark on Reception who was super lovely in getting me seen.

The team at Dorking dental are absolutely fantastic! Mark is great and will always keep you updated with your booking and advise when other slots become available. Dr Samera Iqbal is the best dentist I have ever come across. As a nervous patient, she will always take time to explain what the procedure is, and what the best solution is. Most importantly she will make sure you are completely comfortable before and throughout the procedure, I wouldn't use anyone else!
