Protect Your Smile with Regular Dental Examinations in Dorking

Regular dental examinations are the cornerstone of maintaining excellent oral health. A dental examination is more than just a routine check-up; it’s an essential part of preventive dental care that helps detect issues early and keeps your smile healthy and bright. We recommend scheduling a dental examination every six months to ensure your teeth and gums remain in optimal condition.

What to Expect During Your Dental Examination

When you visit Dorking Dental Centre for a dental examination, our skilled Dorking dentist team will provide a thorough assessment of your oral health. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment: We carefully examine your teeth, gums, and mouth to identify any signs of gum disease, tooth decay, or other potential issues. Early detection is key to preventing more serious problems down the line.
  • Oral Cancer Screening: As part of our commitment to your overall health, we include an oral cancer screening in every dental examination. This quick and painless check can detect early signs of oral cancer, allowing for prompt treatment.
  • Digital X-rays: If necessary, we may take digital X-rays to get a closer look at what’s happening beneath the surface. This helps us spot hidden issues such as cavities between teeth, impacted teeth, or bone loss.
  • Review of Your Dental History: We’ll discuss your dental history and any changes in your oral or overall health since your last visit. This helps us tailor our care to your specific needs.
  • Personalised Oral Hygiene Advice: Our team will guide how to maintain your oral hygiene at home. We’ll offer tips on brushing techniques, flossing, and other habits to keep your teeth and gums healthy between visits.

Why Are Regular Dental Examinations Important?

Regular dental examinations are essential for maintaining not just your oral health, but your overall well-being. Here’s why it’s important to keep up with your dental check-ups:

  • Prevention of Dental Issues: Regular check-ups allow us to catch problems early, such as cavities, gum disease, or enamel erosion, before they become more serious and require extensive treatment.
  • Detection of Systemic Health Issues: Oral health is closely linked to overall health. During a dental examination, we can sometimes spot signs of systemic conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease, that may manifest in the mouth.
  • Oral Cancer Detection: Early detection of oral cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Our routine screenings help ensure any warning signs are caught early.
  • Personalised Care: Each patient’s oral health needs are unique. By attending regular dental examinations, you receive personalised advice and care tailored to your specific dental health needs.

Totally recommend Dorking Dental Practice in Dene Street. I chipped a tooth and was in a lot of pain as it was sharp. I couldn't get an appointment with my own practice and a colleague recommended DDC so I walked in praying they had space but not too hopeful. Another patient was running late so Dr Iqbal treated me in her lunch hour. Staff couldn't have been nicer and the temporary fix is seriously good and very smooth. Considering moving across to here. Thank you Dr Iqbal and Mark on Reception who was super lovely in getting me seen.

The team at Dorking dental are absolutely fantastic! Mark is great and will always keep you updated with your booking and advise when other slots become available. Dr Samera Iqbal is the best dentist I have ever come across. As a nervous patient, she will always take time to explain what the procedure is, and what the best solution is. Most importantly she will make sure you are completely comfortable before and throughout the procedure, I wouldn't use anyone else!
